The Fuppets: Movie

DRU’S STORY: I did lots of drawing when it came to doing the backdrops. I did one or two backdrops, they were the bathroom scene with Thomas and I helped on the yard scene. It was really fun and hard work!

JACKSON’S STORY: One day our class had an idea to make puppets and make a movie about Head lice with puppets. I was really excited about making a movie and even making puppets. I helped on coloring in the outside school scene, did some filming and sharpened all the colouring pencils. It was hard and fun! When our class finished the movie we watched it and I was very proud of myself. I was proud of the class because it took a long time to make.

Fuppet: Black Jellybean

My fuppet's name is Black Jellybean. My fuppet is 6 years old. Black Jellybean was born in 2009. Black Jellybean’s body is as black as the night sky. His eyes are orange like orange juice dripping. His hair is brown and his skin as rough as a pear. His eye lids, his nose and tongue are yellow as a banana.

Black Jellybean is creative, brave, hard working, kind, self-controlled, funny and helpful. He’s a kid that you can ask for help and he’ll do the job. My fuppets is single as he’s a little kid.  He is six years old and always sad because he lives by himself.  My fuppet has one Lamborghini and he drives it because he has a child's driving licence.  Black Jellybean has his own mansion, a 3D 60 inch TV which is connected to a computer.  He has all the video games in Fupland.

Venetian Mask: Jackson

I liked the music notes and the way I did it. I liked the texture that I did on the other side of the mask because I put paper on it. I liked putting the glitter around the eyes of my mask. I learnt how to make a mask for the first time. Next time I would chose to use different colours. I would do a different design and work hard as much as I could, like I did on this mask. I felt sad because I didn’t go to the cultrural festival, but I was still proud of myself that I made my mask.

the video head lice to dead lice

This video is about head lice and how to get head lice out of children's hair.  This is a very good video because it tells you the things you need to take the lice out of your hair.

Neco and I found this video on YouTube.  In this video it shows you how long to leave the olive oil in your hair.  It takes 8 hours.

Has anyone ever tried using Olive oil?

Field trip to the Groynes

At the Groynes we went fishing for aquatic invertebrate.  All we had to do was get the T.R.D. (Terminal Retrieval Device), dip it in the river,  make a figure of eight in the water and bring it up to check for any movement.  If there was movement in the sieve we brought it up to the tray. To get the in vertebrae out we did the rock and roll movement.

For the rock and roll movement we dipped the sieve in the tray and rocked it from side to side.  Then once the things inside were loosened we rolled the sieve out of the tray and looked for the bugs inside. Then when we found one we picked it up with a Miniature Retrieval Device (A.K.A. spoon), identified it with a magnifying glass.  Once it was identified it was put it in the next tray, with different compartments,  for different species of bugs/insects/larvae.  By Ryan B

After we did the hunt for water bugs we did a duck game.  Three people had to be ducks and the rest of us were water boatmen.  The ducks and to tag us. After about 1 minute and 30 seconds we played another round of the game, but there was two humans.  They were Ryan B and Amber-rose.  They had to feed the ducks with fake rubber bread.  By Ryan B

The ducks didn't get the nutrition they needed (from the bread), so they had to crawl on their knees because they were very hungry! The next game was a game with water boatmen and back swimmers and our class had to wear costumes.  We went in the river (which was  grass with rope around it), and had to swim like water boatman and back swimmers.  It was so much fun.  By Jackson

Zometool Fun!

On Tuesday we played with Zometool for maths.  We made a hotel, it was the biggest in the class and everybody was crowding around us and wanting to help.  ZOMETOOL IS THE BEST TOY EVER!

Our QR Treasure Hunt...

On the first day of school we went on a treasure hunt for QR codes.  Miss K hid QR codes around the school.  We all went hunting for the QR codes.  It was hard doing a QR Treasure hunt!  At home I found a QR code on a cooking book and it was for a healthy food web site.  By Kaitlin

There were questions for each QR code and we had to answer them.  There were some in the playground,  stuck on classrooms.  It was quite fun hunting for the codes.  For Home Learning we have to make our own QR codes and bring them to school.  I am going to make a code for a lego site.  By Jackson

Transform!

There were many giggles in the classroom this afternoon.  Our theme for 2012 is 'Transform.'  What a great way to start by taking this funny photos.  Who can you see?

Movie Making: Voices

A couple of weeks ago my class started making movies. The first movie that my class made was 'Peter and the Wild Poaka.' I was the voice that said....'this is the story of Peter and the Wild Poaka,' and I said 'the end.'

I was also the voice of the DOC Ranger who said....'Did you catch the poaka on your own?'

I helped to do the tree (wetlands), backdrop.

A couple of weeks later we videoed train station and Ryan B sung a song. He's a good singer. I watched the other people recording him.

Abstract ART

Christchurch Art Gallery, Te Puna O Waiwhetu Screen Printing Lesson:

Today we went to the relocatable east and we learnt about abstract art. First we did the screen printing.  We wrote our name on the back of card and each group had to line up and wait for their turn.  When it was your turn you had to screen print your paper.  The lady put paint on the screen and you used the squeegee to go back and forth.  You then opened the lid of the screen and took your piece of paper off the screen printer.  After the screen printing we put dye on the paper and blew with the straw to move the paint around.

The Linsey Pollak Show

When Linsey spoke into the microphone he had a funny voice!  He showed my class funny instruments, one was a funny garden piece of hose called Mr Curly.  Linsey needed a volunteer and he chose Thomas.  Thomas had to speak into the microphone and his name was recorded.  Linsey played it again and recorded his voice again.  Then they added some other sounds.  After that he showed us some more instruments.

Footbag Fun!

Yesterday a man called Phil came over to our school. He is really good at Foot bag (which is also known as Hacky Sack).  Phil is the champion of two competitions is New Zealand and Australia.  He was also came 4th in the World Championships.

When we school started we all went over to the learning studio and Phil was there. He did his show with the Footbag. A couple of hours later Phil came to our class to teach us some tricks. We all got a ball each then he blew his whistle and that told us to hold the Footbag up in the air. Then he taught us some tricks. First he taught us about the knee-bump, then he taught us the toe-kick.

Where has the Footbag gone?
Can I kick the Footbag up and catch it with my hand?

Movie Making: Children making Safer Journeys

Hi guys, I'm Jackson.  Let's get to it...my class made a movie called 'The Road Safety Crew,' so children can travel safe.  First we thought of ideas then we made storyboards.  It took a long time to storyboard our ideas.  Then we made characters.  We made skateboarders and people.  We made backgrounds then filmed them.  It was very hard to make the movie.

My Treasure: Sam

My treasure is my pet Sam.  He is my family treasure because he is one of our favourite dogs.  He passed away on 16th July 2009 and he was 11 years old.  He was a puppy when my sister was 2 years old and my Dad got him from the SPCA.  Every morning my job was to feed Sam with dog biscuits.  When he passed away we still had dog biscuits.

Our iMac has been STOLEN!!!

When I found out our iMac had been stolen I went crazy with anger!  It was not fair if you ask me.  We were sad because it cost a lot of money and it was the best computer we ever had. We used it for writing on our blog and it had all of our movies on it.  The police are going to be coming at 1.45pm to look for foot or finger prints on the ground.

Where is our iMac?

The Mesuem visit 2

Today we had the museum visit.  A 160 years ago people came in ships to Christchurch from England and they sailed for 4 months.  They had salted beef and raisins.  Their toilet was a bucket and there were two different classes in the big boat.

The cabin class and steerage. On the ships they had cows and chickens.   They pooped and weed!  That's yuck!  The wee would drip through the wood, one of the passengers had an umbrella on top of his bed.

The families that were on the boat they had to sleep all together at night.  They sailed for four months and arrived in Lyttleton.  Then they went over the Port Hills, then they were in Christchurch.  In Christchurch there weren't many houses.  It was a swamp.

Our favourite part was being shown the photos from 160 years ago and being shown the old treasures.

How old is the first Fire Station?
