Rudolph the Orange-Nosed Fuppet
My Fuppet’s name is Rudolph the Orange-Nosed Fuppet he is 9 years old.
He has velvety grey hair that ends in brown and black tips. Rudolph has a rounded orange nose between his two eyes. His eyes are as round as soccer balls with pupils as black as a black board. Rudolph has a mouth that is green like a common Gecko. He has a purple tongue shaped like a love heart.
Rudolph’s skin is silky smooth and is a pinky-purple colour. At the back of his head he has a black birthmark shaped like a line. Rudolph is mischievous and likes playing practical jokes. Also his favorite shop is the JOKE SHOP. He’s also creative and he invented the Fuppet iPhone.

Venetian Mask: Ryan B
Our class made masks for the Cultural Festival. First we had to design our mask on a piece of paper and decide what design we wanted to use. Then we chose our shape and cut out the shape from a plain full mask. After that we drew our designs on the mask with pencil. I enjoyed designing the mask because I liked drawing the different designs.
To texturise our masks we put layers of paper on top, so when we painted the mask it would show up. Another way we texturised them was to put Modge Podge on the mask. Later we painted the masks with whatever colour we chose, like blue, green and red.

Field trip to the Groynes
At the Groynes we went fishing for aquatic invertebrate. All we had to do was get the T.R.D. (Terminal Retrieval Device), dip it in the river, make a figure of eight in the water and bring it up to check for any movement. If there was movement in the sieve we brought it up to the tray. To get the in vertebrae out we did the rock and roll movement.
For the rock and roll movement we dipped the sieve in the tray and rocked it from side to side. Then once the things inside were loosened we rolled the sieve out of the tray and looked for the bugs inside. Then when we found one we picked it up with a Miniature Retrieval Device (A.K.A. spoon), identified it with a magnifying glass. Once it was identified it was put it in the next tray, with different compartments, for different species of bugs/insects/larvae. By Ryan B
After we did the hunt for water bugs we did a duck game. Three people had to be ducks and the rest of us were water boatmen. The ducks and to tag us. After about 1 minute and 30 seconds we played another round of the game, but there was two humans. They were Ryan B and Amber-rose. They had to feed the ducks with fake rubber bread. By Ryan B
The ducks didn't get the nutrition they needed (from the bread), so they had to crawl on their knees because they were very hungry! The next game was a game with water boatmen and back swimmers and our class had to wear costumes. We went in the river (which was grass with rope around it), and had to swim like water boatman and back swimmers. It was so much fun. By Jackson

Movie Making: Behind the Scenes
Peter and the Wild Poaka I wrote the story with Amelia. At first we wrote different versions of the story. Then we couldn’t decide who’s was best so we put the good bits of each others story's into one.
Then we came up with the main story. Then I drew some of the storyboard. We had to draw all the scenes in the storyboard. After we drew the storyboard up Amelia and I had to write the script on the laptop.
Amelia and I had to audition people for the voices and give them a mark of 10. I was the voice of Grandfather and helped to edit the movie.

Passing Wind!!!
On Monday we went to the Hall to see a show put on by a man called Linsey Pollak. Rooms 6, 7, 8, LT 3 and 4 went to see Linsey Pollak. The show was called Passing Wind.
Linsey Pollak is a musician/musical instrument maker. He makes musical instruments out of all sorts of things like: garden hoses, irrigation pipe, fruit and vegetables, rubber gloves, balloons, wood and watering cans. The show was awesome because our best friend got to make a song with his name.

Movie Making: Children making Safer Journeys
To make the Safer Journeys movie I had to write the story and script with Amelia and Caitlin. I think it's hard to write the story for a movie because it was hard to get ideas. Luckily children had made storyboards.
We had to create the puppets by drafting them and putting the good copy on cardboard. I created the 'Car Hippie' backdrop. I had to draw a house, a garage and the road. Then I had to cover the pencil lines in vivid and colour the things in. Then I dyed the paper with a group of children. We had to wait to record our voices because there were machines outside our classroom trying to fix the court.
When we finally recorded our voices I had to edit the movie by cropping it, putting in the soundtrack and choosing the good footage. Then the teacher showed the class and Thomas' little brother the finished product. Click here to watch our Movie.

Making our Mummified Cats
We made mummified cats. The progress was great. It took a long time to make them. We had to roll up newspaper to make the base. We scrunched up newspaper into a ball for the head. After we had finished this stage we had to wrap the mummified cats in plaster of paris.
We wrapped the mummified cats in plaster of paris. Then after we waited overnight for the plaster of paris to dry. Next when the plaster of paris was dry we glued down linen bandages with PVA glue.
We got strips of the linen and wrapped them round the mummy then glued them down. We moulded clay around the head and merged the ears and the nose on. We had to stick our thumbs where the eyes were going to be and push it in. When the clay was dry we had to paint it with copper acrylic paint.
Then when the paint was dry we brushed it with gold paint about 5-6 times. We painted on the finer detail with black Egyptian style eyes and the cats mouth and whiskers. We painted the eyes green or blue. We had to set the mummified cats up on a table with a black sheet on it. The sign said DO NOT TOUCH!

Egyptian Cartouches
We made cartouches. A cartouche is a tablet or box with a Royal's name on it. It was usually placed in that Pharaoh's tomb when they died.
We had to mould the clay into a flat tablet shape and carved our hieroglyphic names on it. Then when the clay was dry we painted it white. White was the base colour. When the white was dry we dry brushed over it with gold about six times. After the gold paint was dry we painted the hieroglyphics, the colours Egyptians would paint them.

Earthquakes: 5.6 & 6.3 Monday 13th June
My home is a river. My garage has water in it. We have power, but no water. A glass lid fell down by my fridge and I got water on my computer. Caleb
My brick wall fell on my roses. Those were my favourite roses. My cat was up the tree and Summer was upstairs. We built a hut under the table and my cat came in the hut. I wonder why? Nicky
Our lounge has visibly sunk, down from our living room. The cross beams in my roof are cracked. Our foundations are cracked and we already had to replace our piles, as they'd moved off them in the February earthquake, so we've moved off them more now. My brother and I helped to dig liquefaction. We helped the Mt Hut ski field people dig out some guys car, he'd just turned 92. Ryan B
When I got home I got to watch some Doctor who (A good man goes to war and the Curse of the black spot), so I could calm down from the aftershock. Then I got fed up, so I got up and the 6.3 happened. It started shaking and I thought that spaceships were out flying around, like the Darlic and Cyber ships... Seth
When the earthquake struck I thought that some small aftershocks would happen, but none happened. When I got picked up we went home. Then about 1 hour later a 6.3 hit and it was centred at Taylor's Mistake. There were heaps of little ones. I was so scared that I ran outside and went to the mail box. One minutes later all of the liquefaction came up. I didn't go inside again and we stayed at my Aunty's that night. That night there was a 4.7 at 3 am in the morning. Liam
On Monday there were big earthquakes. There was a 5.6 and a 6.3. We all got under a table and is was scary. My mum came and got me. My street was flooded and there was liquefaction everywhere . A couple of days later my mum and me went and got some gumboots. We got my sister some. My mum got black boots, my sister got leopard print boots and I got skulls. It was loud at the Warehouse. Jemma
On the way home from the 5.6 we were going to go and see my great Nana June, but the road was closed. We just went home and when we got out of the car and went inside, to see the damage, we saw that my jewellery box had fallen off my draws. It was broken and my TV had fallen down and had broken when the 6.3 hit. I was outside eating a cookie time and I ran inside to get my Mum, but she said to just go outside. I did then we moved my rabbit from the balcony to the ground my rabbits name is Roy. My cat went missing and her name is Missy. She has had over 20 babies, one named Baylie and one named Fatty. My Treasure: Arabic Dagger
It came from Damascus, Syria. I don't know who made it but it is engraved A.E. Bell Damascus 19-10-1942. My Grandad Arthur gave it to my Dad. It is a treasure because my Grandfather bought it when he was in Damascus with the R.A.F during WW2 and he died before I was born. Grandad Arthur was stationed all over the Middle East and North Africa. He flew Hurricanes for the R.A.F. He bought this dagger in Damascus in a souk (open air market). My parents keep the dagger sheathed to avoid further corrosion and they keep it away from moisture.

My other treasures: A photo of me little, my guitar, Joy and Eeyore. When I was little mum bought me a soft toy which I called Old Eee. I lost it in the back of my toy truck I rode around on, so mum bought me a new soft toy which I call New Eee. I was riding around on my toy truck and I lifted up the back and I found Old Eee. So now I have two Eees.
The Fun Run!
This is our fun run, we ran in the Year 3/4 races. We all had so much fun. We ran hard out, so much so, that we were tired and wanted to go to sleep. We all ran for a long time and watched the teachers race each other. Then it was time for the prize-giving. We all saw the people in Year 5/6 and older get into the zones. It was so fun. A Book of Sunflowers
This is the movie we made. We've all recorded our voices. We hope you enjoy it, sit back and relax.
Making of The Book of Sunflowers
Before the earthquake we were learning about similes. Then Elizabeth brought her sunflowers to school and said that we should get ideas from them, and write similes about them. Once they were finished we had to wait until the dye was dry. Elizabeth took pictures of them and we recorded our voices and we put it on to YouTube. These are photos of us making our similes.

Digital Pet Day: My Cat Simba
My cat is black, his name is Simba. Simba has green eyes and he is 5 years old. Simba is a nice cat but he scratches new people sometimes. Simba loves playing with string. He's on a diet of cat food called Science Diet, because he was too fat, but the earthquake put stress on him so he's lost weight. He used to drink water from the tap. We got Simba from our friends, he is the offspring of our friend's cats.
