Movie Making: Backdrops
We made an animation called Peter and the Wild Poaka, but a NZ version. It was about a little boy that went out to the wetlands and he found a wild poaka. He catches it up in the tree. I drew and helped to create some backdrops.

Abstract ART
Christchurch Art Gallery, Te Puna O Waiwhetu Screen Printing Lesson:
Today we went to the relocatable east and we learnt about abstract art. First we did the screen printing. We wrote our name on the back of card and each group had to line up and wait for their turn. When it was your turn you had to screen print your paper. The lady put paint on the screen and you used the squeegee to go back and forth. You then opened the lid of the screen and took your piece of paper off the screen printer. After the screen printing we put dye on the paper and blew with the straw to move the paint around.

Movie Making: Children making Safer Journeys
I tried making a skate park, but I couldn't make it. I made heaps of mistakes on it, so I just made people. I made the alien for the 'Road Safety Crew,' with the car Hippy and Road Ninja. I tried making a skate park boarder, but it was too small. The characters had to be at least 25 cm to 30 cm tall. There were heaps of skateboarders anyway. My favourite bit was when we made the people.

Making Egyptian Cats
We had lots of fun making our mummified cats. First we had to make the base and shape with scrunched up paper. Then we put plaster of paris around the mummified cats. After that we put linen around the cats to make them look old.
We put dye over them to make them look really old. The colours were orange, black and dark orange. We got some clay and made the head. It was really hard. We had heaps of fun. Then we had to dry brush it to make them look even older.
The next day it looked awesome! We finished drying brushing and then made posters. Our learning celebration was called 'Twilight at the Museum.' We dyed our posters to make them look old and wrote in hieroglyphics.

Earthquakes: 5.6 & 6.3 Monday 13th June
My home is a river. My garage has water in it. We have power, but no water. A glass lid fell down by my fridge and I got water on my computer. Caleb
My brick wall fell on my roses. Those were my favourite roses. My cat was up the tree and Summer was upstairs. We built a hut under the table and my cat came in the hut. I wonder why? Nicky
Our lounge has visibly sunk, down from our living room. The cross beams in my roof are cracked. Our foundations are cracked and we already had to replace our piles, as they'd moved off them in the February earthquake, so we've moved off them more now. My brother and I helped to dig liquefaction. We helped the Mt Hut ski field people dig out some guys car, he'd just turned 92. Ryan B
When I got home I got to watch some Doctor who (A good man goes to war and the Curse of the black spot), so I could calm down from the aftershock. Then I got fed up, so I got up and the 6.3 happened. It started shaking and I thought that spaceships were out flying around, like the Darlic and Cyber ships... Seth
When the earthquake struck I thought that some small aftershocks would happen, but none happened. When I got picked up we went home. Then about 1 hour later a 6.3 hit and it was centred at Taylor's Mistake. There were heaps of little ones. I was so scared that I ran outside and went to the mail box. One minutes later all of the liquefaction came up. I didn't go inside again and we stayed at my Aunty's that night. That night there was a 4.7 at 3 am in the morning. Liam
On Monday there were big earthquakes. There was a 5.6 and a 6.3. We all got under a table and is was scary. My mum came and got me. My street was flooded and there was liquefaction everywhere . A couple of days later my mum and me went and got some gumboots. We got my sister some. My mum got black boots, my sister got leopard print boots and I got skulls. It was loud at the Warehouse. Jemma
On the way home from the 5.6 we were going to go and see my great Nana June, but the road was closed. We just went home and when we got out of the car and went inside, to see the damage, we saw that my jewellery box had fallen off my draws. It was broken and my TV had fallen down and had broken when the 6.3 hit. I was outside eating a cookie time and I ran inside to get my Mum, but she said to just go outside. I did then we moved my rabbit from the balcony to the ground my rabbits name is Roy. My cat went missing and her name is Missy. She has had over 20 babies, one named Baylie and one named Fatty. Kimiya
On Monday I was at home sick. I was laying on my bed sitting by the big window. I got up straight away and rang to get my Mum. I had liquefaction nearly come into my house and it was bubbling around the power pole. Jacob F

The Museum Visit
Today we went into a classroom and we learnt about in 1985. Seth’s Dad Anthony came and told us about the olden days. We had heaps of fun and we saw olden days stuff, like an old camera. There were heaps of photos of the cathedral. We heard funny stuff, like a three person bike, it looked really really funny. Seth's Dad showed us the clothes that people used to wear. The girls underwear was funny. But why?

Digital Pet Day: My Cat Riley
My pet is 4months old and her name is Riley. She is black, white, brown and ginger. Sometimes she goes into the rubbish and gets chicken out of the bin. Riley sometimes sleeps on my beanbag. There are heaps of cats round my street. Riley is really small and she likes jelly meat. She likes to scratch the carpet with her claws. Riley is funny because she poohs in the sink. We are trying to toilet train her. My Nana gave her a mouse toy. She loves it.

A Vist from Stanley
Today Stanley came to see us. He talked to us about the earthquake and about what we did in the last three weeks. He said he comes from Spain. He was cool and we got our photo taken with him. He has a twin brother, Stanley 1 and Stanley 2. Stanley might come to see us again. Our class asked heaps of questions. He has a pet flea on his knee. His friend Lulu has a pet dog. She will come to our pet day. Stanley is so small, he says he is 60 cm tall.
Earthquake
We had no food. All of it fell out of the cupboard. We stayed at my Aunty's house. She took us to the supermarket.
While we were at my Aunty's our Nana came over. The next day or to we went to Auckland. When we came home my kitten was waiting for me at the door.
