Fuppet: Blueberry

My fuppet's name is Blueberry.  He has dark blue eyes like the deep blue sea.  His tongue is purple like grapes, and his mouth is red. He like’s to be cheeky and explore. Blueberry is quite loud and good at school subjects.  He loves to read at home and he goes to Fuppetville school.  I chose that name because he is blue and he loves blueberries.  Blueberry loves to eat strawberries, raspberries, bananas, feijoas, plums and cherries.

Venetian Mask - Demmy

When I was making my mask I first had to chose our designs. Then we had to put paper over it and then we panted it. After we had panted it we glue gunned on our patterns. After we put the glue gun designs on we painted over it with paint. We got feathers and gems and edging for our masks. Then we got to chose if we wanted to put star dust on our mask. After we put the star dust on we put on our feathers, gems and edging. We then put the elastic on and we were finished.

Hunting in the Water...

On Friday our class went to the Groynes.  It is named after concrete and rocks mixed together.  First we had to fish for little bugs.  Then we had to drop them in this big container with water in it.  We had to work out what sort of creatures they were.  After that we had morning tea.  Then we had a another activity.

There were three children that were dressed as ducks and the rest of us were water boatmen insects. The next activity there was a fake river and a few people were rubbish floating in the river.  The rest of us were water boatmen or back swimmers.  The rubbish had to stop us by tagging us.  When we had gotten tagged we had to join the line and tag other people.

We learnt not to pollute waterways.  Don't put rubbish in the water!

Zometool Fun!

On Tuesday we played with Zometool for maths.  We made a hotel, it was the biggest in the class and everybody was crowding around us and wanting to help.  ZOMETOOL IS THE BEST TOY EVER!
In the holidays I went to Queenstown.  When we got there we made our beds and went for a walk into town.  When we came back we had lunch and we had sandwiches.  After we had lunch we went on the Skyline gondola.  The gondola was very high!  When we got up we went on the lookout and looked at Queenstown.  Then we went on the luge.  Sanne, Mum and I were going to go on the luge, but Oma was too scared to go on it.  It was scary at first, but Sanne was zooming past us because Mum kept stopping.  When we had all of our turns we had an ice-cream and it was a slushy cup, that was fun.

On the last day we went to visit a friend from Mum's work.  We went to the lake just outside of Queenstown.  They had a boat, water skis and a water biscuit.  My sister and I went on the skis and I went on the biscuit lots of times.  We all went on the boat and that was a fun time in Queenstown.  I was so happy when we got back home.

Transform!

There were many giggles in the classroom this afternoon.  Our theme for 2012 is 'Transform.'  What a great way to start by taking this funny photos.  Who can you see?

Footbag with Phil

Yesterday we got an lesson from Phil.  He gave us a lesson on how to do tricks with the Footbag.  One of the tricks as the toe kick.  Where you do a karate kick, the Footbag flies in the air and you catch it.  The  second trick was called the knee bump.  First you put your knee up and then you where throw the ball up and hit it with your knee.

Movie Making: Children making Safer Journeys

I liked all of my puppets that I made, but it was sad because my puppets didn't make it!  The Directors thought they were too small.  Next time I would make my puppets bigger.  During filming I held the tables, so they wouldn't fall on the children.

Making Egyptian Cats

We made some mummified cats from Ancient Egypt.  We had to fold up newspapers to make the body and then we had to make a ball for the head.  Then we had to cellotape it altogether.  Then we had to put the plaster of paris on.  We waited for the plaster of paris to dry and then we had to get some clay for the head. We made the ears and stuck them on.  We had to push into the clay to make the eyes.  We got little pieces of clay and put the nose on.  To make whiskers we used a pencil.  Then we had to dry brush it, they look awesome!

Thermals: Vulcan Steel

Today we got thermals they are awesome! They are black, some of the children from Room 8 got to have a photo altogether.  Thank you Vulcan Steel who donated the money so 19 schools (on the eastern side of town), could get free thermals to stay warm.

Earthquakes: 5.6 & 6.3 Monday 13th June

When the 5.6 happened the class went outdoors on the field. My Mum took quite a while to get to school.  All of the streets were flooded.  Our street has water from letter box to letter box. by Amelia

On Monday there was a earthquake, first there was a 5.6 and later on there was a 6.3.  My uncle didn't feel the 5.6  because he was driving.  He was wondering why some kids were getting picked up from school.  Olivia

When the 6.3 happened my friend Anaian was at my house and we where watching a movie.  Then the 6.3 happened and Anaian was hugging me.  Gabbie

On Monday there was a big earthquake and we where all at school.  I was going to do a fitting for my jacket, but the 5.6 happened so we went home.  We stayed home and at 4 o clock we went to my Dad's house.  He lives at the back of the airport and he had power and water.  We didn't have to boil the water.    We are staying there for a week.  My Dad dropped us off at school today and he is picking us up. Yesterday we went to the airport and we had burger king for lunch.  At the airport we had lots of fun.  We played games, watched TV and I read a book.  My Dad has a pool and spa pool, but we have not been in them yet because I didn't bring my togs.  Demmy

When the 5.6 happened my brother and I were crying.  I was with Mrs Douglas and I went under her desk and I was scared.  Then my Mum picked me up from school.  Amber-Rose

When I got home we went an talked to the neighbours.  Then the 6.3 happened and Mum and I could barely stand up.  Then I wanted to go home because there was lots of liquefaction pouring out the driveway.  When we got there we looked outside and a truck was coming.  It was on the right lane and then it went into a sink hole.  The driver was ok.  There was a guy on the footpath thinking he could go on the footpath and he was going about 10-15km and he said 'Hi,' to me and then he fell into a sink hole!  Jacob L

When the 6.3 happened my friend was around at my house and we were both on the chairs next to each other, then we zoomed under the table.  When that happened my Mum and her friend spilt their coffee all over the place.  We had a pot hole from the Feb earthquake and all of the liquefaction came up our drive way and covered it!  Neco

I was riding my scooter and when the 6.3 happened I fell off it and hurt myself.  My Mum went to put the scooter away and there was another aftershock and I ran to the fence.  Adam

When  I got home and went inside everything was fine.  When the 6.3 hit there was liquefaction and water all up my driveway.  Nothing broke.  Beth

My Treasures: Soft toys

My dog is very special to me because I had it when I was a baby.  I love it and I called it Doggy.  My blanket is cold when I lay down on it, it's awesome.  My little play puppy is cute.  I put it on my self and I called it Lucy.  She is cute.  My bear is fantastic and I got it on my 7th birthday.  I love my treasures!

The CD is a Dutch song.  I love my Mum lots.

Easter Bunnies in Room 8!

John and Paul dressed up as bunny rabbits and gave out caramel eggs. They were yummy. The bunnies were pink, white, green, blue, red and yellow. They were funny and silly.  Their ears were floppy and they were very very fluffy. Have a nice Easter break! By Caleb and Demmy

Digital Pet Day: My Cat Zoey

My cat Zoey has lots of fun because he has a fake mouse.  It can move to different places.  Zoey likes to eat cat food and cat treats.  Zoey is very very cheeky because she pounces on your legs and feet.

First Day Back at School - Walk around the School

We walked around the school.  We saw trees cut down, we felt sad when we saw them.  We stood in slit and it was on the field. We saw builders digging and machines digging holes.

Earthquake Story

After the earthquake my Dad stayed with us at home and he stayed for a night.  In the afternoon we went to my Dad's house because he had water and power.  The house was fine, but a vase broke.  The next day we helped people clean up the liquefaction.  It was fun, but someone took our spade!
