Movie Making: Grandfather from "Peter and the Wild Poaka'

Below I am drawing the Grandfather for the movie.  It was hard because they had to be the same - one Grandfather wearing pj's and one in his clothes.  My favourite part was when I got to see them in the movie, it was like they came to life!

Strike

Today we went to STRIKE and we watched them make music with fire.  It was fun.  We heard them sing, well not sing....scream.  We heard them play lots of different drums.  They were funny and we loved it so much.  It was so loud!

Before STRIKE played music with fire they were sitting down at a table with cans.  They made different beats with the cans.  When STRIKE were making beats with the cans, one of the cans opened!

Movie Making: Children making Safer Journeys

Ryan B, Amelia and I had to think hard for ideas for the storyboard. We ended up with 'The Road Safety Crew.' There was a car Hippie, a Wheel Ninja and the Road Alien. This is my favourite drawing and my favourite character. It was hard because I had to draw a side view of the puppet that I had drawn (front on). I also drew two characters that were in the back seat.

Making Cartouches and Mummified Cats

We painted hieroglyphics.  To make hieroglyphics we had to get some clay and mould our name into it.  We let it dry and then painted with white and let it dry.  Then we painted with gold and then colour in the sides of the carving.  Then did the black lines and let it dry.

To make our cats we used a stick of paper and put a whole heap of newspaper scrunched up.  We wrapped it around and put plaster of paris on it.  We smoother it over and put PVA glue and fabric all over it (you can do a pattern).  You then let it dry and then make a mask out of the clay. You let this dry and then you dry brush with lots of layers of gold and bronze.  You need colours like blue, green an purple.  You can put black lines on the face, where you have carved in with a paperclip.

My Treasures: Scarf & Necklace

My necklace and scarf came from Canada.  My Great cousing Alison handmade the scarf and necklace.  I got them this year for my birthday.  My necklace has glass beads and I put it in an old white jar, so it will be safe.  I keep my scarf in my draw.

Treasures from the Olden Days...

Anthony came to our school and showed us what old treasures are.  He users showed us old clothes.  Boys used to dressed until they were 5 years old.  Women wore under garments and twelve petty coats with a  woollen dress.   

They wore a corset on their waist.  The boys used to wear leather pants with straps up to their shoulders,  blue t-shirts and dark blue jackets over top.  Anthony also showed us what they used for a washing board and a vacuum cleaner that you have to smack against a rug to get rid of the dust.   

He showed us an old camera.  You had to stand there for a minute before it took the photo. When the English came to Christchurch, on a ship, there was one cabin called cabin class.  This was for the rich people.  They had servants and fresh milk and eggs.  They were the lucky ones, but they were under the poop deck.  The bad thing was that the pooh and wee came through the roof at night.  One adult had an umbrella over his head.  That was funny!

Gifts from Cotswold School in Christchurch

Cotswold School sent us gifts.  It was a surprise! Some of gifts were: smiggle pens, a soccer pen, an origami set, a Tinkerbell book and a hot wheels car. We are making thank you cards and we are writing about our damaged homes . Thank you so much Cotswold Schools and their School Council.

Digital Pet Day: Two Cats and One Dog

I have a dog and his name is Kimba.  We called him that because we had an old dog called Kimba who passed away.  So we called our new dog Kimba for a memory.  Kimba likes to chase a ball and play tug of war.  Kimba is a Staffiture.  Kimba likes to be around people and if he is not he will dig holes!  Kimba needs shelter because he doesn't like the rain.  He needs two balls and dog food each day.  At lunch time we give him water and at breakfast and tea.

First Day Back at School - The Cloak of Dreams

For drama we made a cloak of dreams.

Our teacher told us a story.  Once there was this girl who was going to see her Granny.  In the forest she was running and she tore her cloak of dreams.  She was very sad.  We all had to help her fix her cloak of dreams.  The Granny went to the Dream Maker's helpers and asked them to help her.    

After we finished we made a thread to fix the girls cloak of dreams.  Before that we had to think

of ingredients to make the thread.  We had ingredients like: love, rainbows, two cups of moonlight, two cups of glitter, three cups of angels, a strand of Rapunzel's hair and gold dust. There was a

big cloud pot and we added ingredients in one by one.  We started to fix the cloak of dreams by passing a thread. We gave the little girl back her mended cloak of dreams.

    

 

Megamog: Alice

My megamog looks like a Hawaii cat.  She is wearing a coconut bra, a flower necklace, a grass skirt and a crown.  She has got big eyes, a yellow tummy, orange fur and a pink flower necklace.  She has got a big smile.  Alice loves doing Hawaiian dancing.  She love to eat, play and to be naughty.  Oh, and she loves flowers.  The shape of Alice is like circles.  Alice has spiky ears.  She normally has her tail around her neck like a scarf.  She has got purple and blue eyes.  Her fur is like cut grass.  She has got a nose like a blob of paint.
