Joint Winner - Safe Journeys for Children

Congratulations to a group of children in Room 6!  Samara's original idea of the Doughnut Monster came from drawing a picture of someone feeling hiakai (hungry).   Elizabeth

Click here to view the announcement.

The main idea was to keep kids safe when riding a bike. I was really excited when it was announced that we got first equal.  We will get Stuart and Kennard for four days to help us make the movie of 'The Doughnut Monster's New Bicycle.' We are excited about that!  Samara

What have you been up to in the Holidays?

I saw Demmy and Amber-Rose at a KidsFest event.  I watched a dog herd some ducks around an obstacle course and saw a chicken sitting on a donkey.

Snow...

It's so cold!
Seagulls in the snow...
A Snowman and his puppy...
A very cute snowman...built afterschool.

Grasshoppers...

Today I found a grasshopper nymph in my garden.  I brought the nymph inside while I grabbed my camera.  As I was taking one of the photos I nearly got hit by a wee piece of flying dung.

The wee nymph...you can see the buds where the wings will eventually be.
Can you see the nymph?

Christchurch Earthquakes 5.8 & 6.0

I was just looking at the Father Xmas photos with my son, down at the mall, when the 5.8 struck!  I had to do a Claude Van Dam...swoop my son up and run with glass shattering in front of me to take cover under the stair well.  I think I need a new career...Liz Van Dam sounds good to me!  I hope everyone is alright.

After the 5.8 quake....I then tidied up and re-assembled the xmas tree.
After the 6.0 quake...

Our Christmas Trees Are Gorgeous!
