MADE AWARDS 2014 - Tauranga

Tui's Garden - The Movie Set...

We made a movie called Tui's Garden.  This is the movie set.  We filmed the movie in our classroom.

We had to design the backdrops.  I designed the character Praven and he was from Singapore.  I wrote the story with Summer and I drew Mrs Camilla.  I think she looked really good in the movie.  Aogan was the voice for Mrs Camilla.

Tui's Garden - Behind the Scenes

We made honeybees for the movie because it was a movie about honeybees.

It took a long time to make the movie.

The honeybees look like they are flying because they are on string and someone is holding them with their hands.  They have a lot of stripes and they have wings.

We all made the fence, the puppets and all the clothes.  Summer designed most of the puppets and their clothes.

We made some flowers.  All of the Year 3 children worked together to make Tui's Garden.  The Year 4's were working on Honeybee News and the How Bizarre while we made our movie.

We all worked very hard on the movie.  Our favourite parts were puppeteering the little honeybees and drawing the backdrops.

Tui's Garden - Behind the Scenes

We made the movie because we love honeybees.  We wanted to tell people to plant for bees.

I used the camera to video the movie and I did some puppeteering.  I coloured in lots of clothes and coloured in some puppets.

I made a house for the backdrop.

The best part was filming because it was a very important job.

Tui's Garden - Working out the set...

This is how we worked out the set for Tui's Garden.  We used boxes and paper to work out different street views.

Honeybee News - Behind the Scenes

These are the the photos of Room 6 behind the scenes.

Everybody helped to make the backdrops and Flynn and Luke worked on the script.

The people who filmed the documentary were Chloe, Flynn and Kyan.

Before we did the puppeteering we had to practise and learn our lines.  It was hard work, but it was worth it because we think it is a really good documentary.

Honeybee News - Making the Puppets

We made honeybee using black socks.  I made some honeybees and they took a bit of work, but we got them all done.  The best part that this was our first time making puppets for a real movie.

I was the puppeteer and voice for Worker Bee 1.  I really liked it and I had to practise.  We videoed each other on the iPad.  This helped me get better at puppeteering and sometimes you need to make a voice different to what you've got.  I learnt to make sure my puppet was looking at the camera.

Tui's Garden - The Storyboard

After writing the script we then had to turn this into a storyboard.  We all worked together to think of what shots we could use.  After this we worked out what artworks we needed to create.

Honeybee News - Backdrops

We drew a backdrop that was yellow and black.  The black was meant to look like jail bars.  Then we stuck the varroa mite poster on top.

Luke, Jack and Nathan helped to design the backdrop with all the food.  This was meant to show that if there were no honeybees to pollinate flowers we wouldn't have all of this food.
